Everything you need to know

Athens Proposal FAQ: Planning & Photos

From the first inquiry to the final gallery, here is what you can expect along the way.

Planning a proposal abroad can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. I serve as your local partner in Athens, helping to turn your vision into reality. My comprehensive process handles all the logistical details—ranging from location scouting to timing—so you can focus entirely on the moment that matters most.

Logistics & Planning

I accept bookings on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure your desired date, I recommend booking 4 to 8 weeks in advance, especially for popular summer dates from May to September. However, if you have a last-minute request, please feel free to reach out, and I will do my best to accommodate you.

I will serve as your local planner for the proposal. I will provide a detailed map of the meeting point, advice on the best spot to stand for a great background, and guidance on timing. For more elaborate setups, such as large floral arches or private dinners, I can coordinate with trusted specialized vendors.

I accept bookings on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot hold dates without a retainer. To secure your session, a 30% deposit is required. Payments can be made easily through ePOS Viva Wallet (using debit or credit cards; no account needed), bank transfer, or cash. The remaining balance is due in cash at the end of our session.

Athens enjoys wonderful weather; however, if rain is in the forecast, we have two options. We can either reschedule the shoot to the next available date during your trip or adjust the time to avoid the rain. I always keep a close eye on the forecast and will keep you updated.

For the best photos, I recommend wearing “smart casual” or “cocktail attire.” Solid, neutral colors like white, beige, pastels, and navy will look great against the stone of the Acropolis. Please avoid heavy patterns or large logos. Comfortable shoes are essential for walking to the location—she can change into heels just before the photoshoot!

Although I don’t offer a chauffeur service, I will provide you with a precise Google Maps pin and photos of the meeting point. Athens has excellent taxi services and Uber, making it very convenient to reach our meeting spots near the Acropolis.

Absolutely! The packages listed are my most popular options. However, if you prefer to propose on a private yacht, a helicopter, or at a specific island location, just let me know. I would be happy to create a custom offer tailored to your vision.

The Surprise Factor

We will have a designated spot and time for the shoot. I will arrive early, blending in like a tourist with my camera or waiting at a distance with a long lens. You won’t need to acknowledge my presence- just walk to the designated spot. When you drop to one knee, I will begin taking photos.

Before the day, please send me a recent selfie of both of you along with a description of your outfits. This will help me recognize you immediately in the crowd.

There’s no complicated signal required. When you reach the specific spot we agreed upon (marked on the map I sent you), take a moment to enjoy the view and catch your breath. Then, propose whenever you feel ready. I will be watching you the entire time.

In popular tourist spots, it’s common to encounter tourists, but most people are respectful when they witness a proposal taking place. They typically step aside or cheer! If you desire guaranteed privacy, I suggest my “Private Spot,” depending on your selection.

This is a common fear! My approach is documentary-style photography, where I capture real moments rather than stiff poses. During the proposal, I take a hands-off approach. Afterward, I’ll provide gentle prompts like “walk towards me” or “look at her,” which encourages natural, authentic movement.

Sunsets in Athens are magical, especially during the “Golden Hour.” The ideal time to enjoy this beauty is approximately 35–45 minutes before sunset. However, it’s important to note that this time also attracts the largest crowds at major viewpoints.

Emotions create the best photos! Don’t worry about makeup; the joy on her face is what matters most. We can always take a moment after the “Yes” for her to touch up before we capture the engagement portraits.

I generally recommend proposing before dinner at a scenic outdoor location. Restaurants can be dark, cramped, and noisy, with diners’ chatter. Proposing from a viewpoint first ensures better lighting and privacy. Afterwards, you can celebrate the moment over dinner!

Take your time! Don’t rush when opening the box. I always recommend keeping the ring box in a jacket pocket or a secure pant pocket (avoid loose pockets!). If you feel nervous, hold the box with both hands. We will ensure that the moment is safe.

Location Advice

No professional photography, including weddings and proposals, is allowed inside the archaeological site. Guards will enforce this rule. Additionally, it is extremely crowded. The best photos can be captured from the surrounding hills, facing the Acropolis.

The Areopagus is iconic and located near the rock, but it is extremely crowded (rated 5/5 for crowds). In contrast, Filopappou offers a better view of the Parthenon, features greenery, and has more private spots (rated 2/5 for crowds). I highly recommend Filopappou as the ideal location for the proposal.

Absolutely! My Essential Package is specifically designed for this. We begin with an intimate proposal at a private spot on Filopappou Hill, then we stroll to Areopagus Hill for stunning wide-angle shots of the city lights and the Acropolis in the background.

If you want zero audience, I recommend:

  1. The “Private Spot” at Filopappou Hill.
  2. Booking a private rooftop at a hotel.
  3. A sunrise session (most tourists are sleeping!).
  4. A private yacht cruise along the Riviera.

Yes, I love destination proposals! I travel to Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, and other islands. The cost will include my standard photography fee and travel expenses (ferry, flight, and accommodation, if needed).

Many scenic spots in Athens involve walking on uneven stone paths or dirt trails, particularly on the hills. I recommend that your partner wear comfortable flats or block heels to navigate these areas safely.

Yes, it is a stunning location about an hour from Athens. It is famous for its sunset. Keep in mind it is a major tourist site, so it will be busy (Rated 5/5), but the backdrop of the ancient columns and the sea is unforgettable.

The National Gardens (Zappeio) are beautiful and provide a lush green backdrop (Rated 2/5 for crowds). They are a great choice if you prefer nature and palm trees over the rocky cityscape, or as a secondary location for variety.

Yes, the “Athens Riviera” has beautiful spots like Mikrolimano or rocky coves near Vouliagmeni. These are great for a summer vibe without leaving the city region.

This is a specific, scenic spot I know that offers natural framing with cypress trees and the Acropolis in the distance. It is generally very quiet (Rated 2/5) and perfect for romantic, fairytale-style images.

No. The final images you download are high-resolution and watermark-free. You have full personal usage rights to print, share, and post them as much as you like.

Yes! A digital file is great, but a book is forever. You can order high-quality prints and handmade heirloom albums directly through your private online gallery. They are printed by top professional labs worldwide and shipped directly to your home address.

My style blends Fine Art and Photojournalism. I focus on natural light, real emotions, and timeless editing. I avoid heavy filters or trendy presets that will look dated in a few years. I want your photos to look classic forever.

Absolutely! The high-resolution files are perfect for printing on “Save the Date” cards or displaying at your wedding.

Yes. The online gallery link I sent you can be shared with anyone. Your family and friends can view the photos and even order prints if they wish.

My goal is to give you an experience, not just a photoshoot. I want you to feel the moment, not the camera. I aim to create a calm, stress-free space where you can focus on the “Yes,” knowing that the memory is being preserved perfectly.
